Happy Afternoon from Wisconsin,
If it weren’t for the bare trees you’d never know what’s coming. Today when I walked out the door for lunch I was hit in the face with gorgeous warm air and humidity, it felt like June! Sadly June is long past and winter fast approaches. Here in Wisconsin we are getting out ice scrapers (who am I kidding any good WI gal will tell you those never leave the car) and winter parkas. Our feet won’t see the sun until next April and those farmer tans will have long since faded by the time we get out t-shirts next March.
Winter is not without its perks however. We don’t blast from summer to winter, first we get to experience one of the most colorful spectacles on Earth, autumn. The leaves are gorgeous, the air is clear and the light is great! No other time of year gives us such incredible golden leaves, amazing reds or those deep blue skies. So how do you capture all that color? Panoramics. What a great way to introduce you to my favorite landscapes. These panoramas show two of my favorite places bathed in Wisconsin’s beautiful autumn light. Enjoy!

The larger the island of knowledge, the longer the shoreline of wonder. ~Ralph W. Sockman
This photo was taken at one of my all time favorite places, Harrington Beach State Park. I grew up in this park, fostered my love of astronomy and my love of birding in this park and most recently I rediscovered photography here. This shot shows peak fall color at the Quarry. Hard to believe when I look out my window and see all these wind blown bare trees that just a week ago my world looked like this. I hope you enjoy the beautiful colors as much as I did. Clear Skies and Happy Feathers, Becca
The one red leaf, the last of its clan,
That dances as often as dance it can,
Hanging so light, and hanging so high,
On the topmost twig that looks up at the sky.

Jaegerfest is a Wisconsin Society for Ornithology weekend long field trip held at Wisconsin Point in the North Woods town of Superior Wisconsin. Here are some photos from our drive up tonight. Wish me luck, I’m hoping for some life birds!
